Thirty-two Orang Asli children aged 5 to 14 years old gets the opportunity to study at the Playgroup and Learning Centre under the Horlicks School Journey of Initiative.
The centre, is a two-phase programme being rolled out in the community to help children reach their lack of access to education.
Launched in October 2014 as a pilot programme in Kampung Chuweh, Tasik Banding, Gerik, Perak, the initiative has partnered with the Malaysian Association for Social Workers (MASW), a non-governmental organisation that aims to help disadvantaged groups tackle the daily struggles faced by Malaysian children in their journey to school.
The creation of the Playgroup and Learning Centre housed in classrooms built by the villagers and the gift of a boat - Kaloi - funded by Horlicks, marked the start of phase one of the initiative.
