KUALA LUMPUR: Praviin Jeeva hopes to be a professional squash player like his elder brother, Sanjay. And that led him to the University of West England (UWE).
Praviin, 20, from Kuala Lumpur enrolled at UWE a few days ago to pursue a degree in business administration. The university is also known for its squash programme.
Promising Malaysian players C. Ameeshenraj, Yasshmita Jadish Kumar, Darren Rahul Pragasam and Shameel Haeyzd have joined UWE earlier.
Jadish Kumar, of ACE Sports and Management, arranged for Praviin's UWE enrolment. The KL-born Praviin also played in the ACE Challenger in July.
Jadish said Praviin, who is expected to be Malaysia's next top player, will come under coach John Welton at UWE. Welton had also previously trained Asian champion Ng Eain Yow
"As a squash player, 30% of his fees will be borne by UWE," said Jadish.
Jadish added that Sarawak's Harith Danial Jefri, who won bronze at the World Junior Championships in Houston, United States, in July, will also enrol at the UWE soon.
World No. 68 Sanjay, who is based in the United States, said: "It will be a new chapter for Praviin as we will be training with a group of squash players (at UWE).
"Praviin is currently ranked world No. 542. Training and playing in England will help his squash career."
