KANGAR: Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azlan Man has expressed the state government's disappointment over the Immigration Department's move to permanently close the 'free flow' lane at the Wang Kelian Immigration post beginning today.
He said the move would adversely affected economic and tourism activities in the state.
Azlan claimed that the business activity at the Malaysian-Thai border which had been going on for years would be in jeopardy and might as well affecting the number of tourists arriving in Wang Kelian.
"Based on record, the number of Thai visitors who entered Perlis via Wang Kelian through the 'Free Flow' entrance for shopping is higher that the number of Malaysians who crossed to southern Thai.
"We hope the department will review the decision immediately," he said in a press conference here today.
