Odd job worker charged with drug trafficking

ALOR STAR: A-29-year-old odd job worker was charged at the magistrate’s court here yesterday with two counts of drug trafficking about two weeks ago.

On the first count, Fadzli Ikmal Kamaludin was charged with trafficking 81.7g of methamphetamine at a parking space of a hotel in Bandar Baru Mergong here at 12.45am on April 19.

For the second charge, the father of five was alleged to have trafficked 228.56g heroin at the same time and venue.

The charges were made under Section 39B(1)(a)of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 which is punishable under Section 39B(2) of the same Act, which carries the mandatory death sentence.

However, no plea was recorded and magistrate Mohd Khairul Hafizuddin Ramli set June 30 for mention.

Prosecution was conducted by deputy public prosecutor Nuur Hafiedzah Mohd Daud while Fazli was represented by K.T. Jayaraj.
