The appointment will take effect from April 26 when Sultan Azlan Shah installed as the ninth Yang di-Pertuan Agong for a five-year term.

16 August 1989: The Regent of Perak, Raja Nazrin Shah taking the lead in the Ipoh leg SEA Games Torch Run. The Regent carried the torch from the City Railway Station to Jalan Medan Kit before handing it over to Menteri Besar, Tan Sri Ramli Ngah Talib.

Born on November 27, 1956 in Georgetown, Penang, Sultan Nazrin Shah is the eldest son to Almarhum Sultan Azlan Muhibbuddin Shah Al-Maghfurlah (34th Sultan of Perak) and Tuanku Siti Bainun Mohd Ali.

His Royal Highness Sultan Dr Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah ibni Almarhum Sultan Azlan Muhibbuddin Shah Al-Maghfurlah was crowned as the 35th Sultan of Perak on May 6, 2015.

Sultan Nazrin Shah holds a B.A. (Hons) Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Oxford University; a Master in Public Administration from the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University; and a Ph.D. in Political Economy and Government from Harvard University.

Sultan Nazrin Shah is married to Tuanku Zara Salim and the royal couple has a son YM Raja Azlan Muzzaffar Shah and a daughter YM Raja Nazira Safya.
