ALOR STAR: A 76-year-old farmer died after falling in to an irrigation canal at Kampung Sungai Baru Tok Kermit here this evening.
The body of Ahmad Dohad was found by his grandchildren after he failed to return from working on his paddy field.
His son, Abdul Rashid, 54, said his father had gone to the paddy field at 7.30am but failed to return home until late this evening.
“I felt something amiss when my nephews called and informed me that my father has yet to return home as usual. He should have been back by 5pm,” he said when met at the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital’s forensic unit here today.
Meanwhile, Kota Star district police chief Assistant Commissioner Adzaman Md Jan said the victim was sent to the hospital for post-mortem and police have ruled out foul play in the incident.
