KUALA LUMPUR: A 17-year-old teenager died early today after reportedly falling from the 9th floor of his apartment in Setapak.
Wangsa Maju district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Lazim Ismail said authorities received a distress call from a family member around 11.50am.
A response team promptly arrived at the scene to find the victim sprawled on the ground floor of his apartment block.
The teenager, who was known is known to be a psychiatric patient and undergoing hospital treatment, was pronounced dead by medical officers who attended the scene, Mohamad Lazim said.
The incident is currently being classified as sudden death, with the boy's remains sent to Kuala Lumpur Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
