KUALA LUMPUR: MIC vice president Datuk M. Saravanan urged Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak to strip embattled president Datuk Seri G. Palanivel of his cabinet post immediately as he is suffering from "mental illness".
“Send him for psychiatric treatment. He is a mental fellow with serious mental disorder,” he said after attending the International Yoga Day here today, adding Palanivel was no longer an MIC member.
“He had gone against the court and he even defied the RoS’ (Registrar of Societies) orders on the legitimacy of the 2009 Central Working Committee members. He is no longer recognised as a party member,” Saravanan said.
He said instead of blaming Najib over the MIC crisis, Palanivel who is environment minister, should reflect the matter upon himself. Saravanan said accusing Najib for the party's crisis was unfair as the prime minister had never interfered in MIC matters.
“As Barisan Nasional chairman, he did advise MIC to resolve all of its matters internally, but that was about it,” he said.
