Argument between two brothers over fasting leads to death

BANTING: Suspicion whether his sibling was observing his Fast in Ramadan, led to fatal consequences.

Suspicious that his elder brother was not fasting, saw two brothers engaged in a heated argument.

This led to the younger sibling slashing his older sibling on the neck when a fight ensued.

The elder sibling died of his wound on the way to hospital.

The drama unfolded when the suspect, a 26-year-old factory operator, confronted his elder brother for his failure to observe fasting at 6pm.

This turned into a fight between the two siblings in the incident which took place at his home in Jalan Orkid Batu 8, Sijangkang.

The suspect later went into his room and slammed the door.

Enraged, the victim, 32, barged into the suspect's room and started pushing and biting the suspect.

The fighting further escalated when the victim hit the suspect's head with a decorative frame and a long iron rod.

Following this, the suspect pursued the victim in to the kitchen and grabbed a knife as a weapon and slashed at the victim's neck.

It is believed that the fighting ceased the moment blood was drawn.

The victim eventually left the house with a friend, taking with him some personal items.

According to sources, police received a call from a medical attendant at the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR) at 6.30pm that an unconscious man with a neck wound was sent to the hospital.

The victim was declared dead on the way to the hospital by the attending doctor.

Meanwhile, the suspected assailant was arrested at the murder scene and a knife, believed to be the murder weapon, has been recovered.

The case is investigated according to Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
