Aaron Aziz to star in a Hong Kong movie soon

KUALA LUMPUR: Popular actor Aaron Aziz will be appearing in a Hong Kong action film, set to be released later this year.

He plays a supporting character who gets in the heat of the action.

“Details of the film are still under wraps for now. All I can divulge is that my character is neither a goodie nor a baddie, but is crucial to the story,” said the Singapore-born dashing actor when met at Astro’s Cinta Paling Agung press conference at The Garden’s GSC Signature yesterday.

Aaron, 39, who is more popularly known for his convincing roles in KL Gangster and Ombak Rindu said, the film would be screened in Malaysia, Singapore, China, Hong Kong, the United States and the United Kingdom.

The award-winnng actor who took home the Anugerah Bintang Popular Berita Harian’s (ABPBH) Most Popular Artiste trophy twice, once in 2011 and another in 2013, said this film would be his second Hong Kong production after Special Female Force which he also starred in (played a supporting role).

Released last year, Special Female Force which revolves around policewomen going undercover in Bangkok, Thailand in pursuit of an international terrorist, was jointly produced by Malaysia’s Hotwer Entertainment, Hong Kong’s Sun Entertainment Culture and Pineapple Movies, and China’s Cash Flower Communication and G Media.

Directed by Hong Kong filmmaker Wilson Kwok, it starred Eliza Sam, Jeanna Ho, Joyce Cheng and Anita Chui.

Besides the Kuala Lumpur-based Aaron, Special Female Force also starred a local actor Chris Tong.

For this Hari Raya, Aaron is set to appear in a telemovie Cinta Paling Agung over Astro First (Astro channel 480).

Largely filmed in Jakarta, Indonesia, is also stars Siti Saleha Baharom and Miasara Nasuha.

It is directed by acclaimed Indonesian director Hanung Bramantyo, the man behind historical movie Soekarno: Indonesia Merdeka last year.

Cinta Paling Agung tackles the issue of polygamy, from the point of view of a married man’s wife.

Aaron who plays an Indonesian-based Malaysian businessman who is married with a young daughter, finds himself falling for a young Indonesian woman, and plans to marry her. However, the marriage is opposed by his wife and the Indonesian woman’s parents.
