Buried child case presented with never-before-seen documents

KUALA LUMPUR: New documents and never-before-seen photographs of the crime scene saw the case of housewife Tan Boa Jia, who is charged with concealing evidence of her son's murder, be mentioned again on Nov 12.

Deputy public prosecutor Sharifah Zulia Balqish Syed Agil applied for the new mention date as the prosecution has just gotten the documents and that the defence need time to go through them.

Sharifah also said the prosecution is also still waiting for the pathology report. Tan's counsel Kitson Foong did not object to the application, which was made before Selayang Court magistrate Norita Mohd Ardani. Norita set next mention on Nov 12.

Tan, 33, is accused of burying the body of Loo Yong Shen Evan to conceal evidence at Jalan 10, Taman Usaha Jaya, Kepong, Gombak in Selangor around 2pm on March 29. She claimed trial to the charge on June 12.

The body of the nine-year-old boy was found buried under the kitchen floor.

She may be jailed up to seven years and fined if convicted under Section 201 of the Penal Code.

On June 12 at the same court, debt collector Loo Chon Wen, who was also Tan's husband, was also charged with the murder of the boy.

Loo may be sentenced to death if found guilty under Section 302 of the Code.
