PETALING JAYA: Single but not available. That best describes local singer and actor Nicholas Teo’s current relationship status.
“I am happy... and I have the support from my family and friends. My life is complete just having them around,” said the 33-year-old when met at the Universal Music Malaysia’s office here today.
The boyish singer has been romantically-linked to Taiwanese actress and singer Cyndi Wang, who was also his co-star in the 2006 Taiwanese idol series, Smiling Pasta. However, he insisted that they were not dating.
When probed further, the artiste remained tight-lipped while giving his cheeky smile to this reporter.
“What I look for in a relationship is very simple. I want someone who is always supportive of what I do and one who I can always count on no matter what,” he said, as he settled himself into the chair.
After his last album, Let’s Not Fall in Love Again (2011), the Kuching-born Teo temporary left the music scene. During this time, the singer who shot to fame after winning Astro Talent Quest singing competition in 2002, travelled the world and spent two months studying acting in New York.
“It was never my intention to leave the music scene. I just needed some time off. Also at the time, my contract with Seed Music Taiwan had ended and I decided not to renew it.
“I felt that I needed to do something that I never had the chance of doing,” he said.
Last month, Teo released his long-awaited book titled Long Vacation, where it also comes with a mini album featuring three new singles: There’s No If, Idol Singer and Age Of Bloom. He collaborated with local singer-songwriter Keith Tan of popular indie band, Platform 11, to come out with the tunes.
Teo is slated to perform at his showcase To Be... Nicholas Teo Live in Malaysia 2015 on Dec 5 at the Mega Star Arena in Kuchai Lama. He will also be releasing two new singles in conjunction with his concert.
“Don’t expect the concert to be filled with fireworks, gimmicks and dancers. The arrangement is very stripped down, minimalist and intimate,” he said.
Tickets to the To Be... Nicholas Teo Live in Malaysia 2015 are priced from RM98 till RM368. Tickets can be purchased from nicholasteo.peatix.com.
