#SHOWBIZ: Singer Nora Ariffin divorced with single 'talak' via video recording

KUALA LUMPUR: Singer Datuk Nora Ariffin was divorced with the pronouncement of a single talak (talak satu) by her husband, Dr Rushdi Ramli.

The declaration of the divorce was made by Rushdi via a video recording shared by the 51-year-old artiste on Instagram, a short while ago.

"I, Rushdi Ramli, hereby divorce my wife, Wan Norafiza Ariffin, with a single talak for the sake of Allah," he said.

She captioned the post with: "Alhamdulillahh. Done. Only Allah knows."

According to Berita Harian, speculation that the singer's marriage with the senior lecturer in the Department of Fiqh and Usul at the Academy of Islamic Studies of Universiti Malaya was on the rocks had been circulating since last year, but Nora denied this.

The Kelantan-born singer tied the knot with Rushdi in 2021 but did not provide any details about the wedding ceremony.

She announced that she had met her soul mate who was the best friend of her late husband, Johan Nawawi.

Before that, Nora married Johan in 1992 and they have four children together.

However, Johan died on March 24, 2017, at the age of 52 due to a heart attack.

On Dec 13, 2019, Nora suffered another tragedy in the family with the passing of her second child, 20-year-old Muhammad Syakir Aliff.
