Indonesian boat crew arrested for fishing in Msian waters

LUMUT: An Indonesian fishing boat skipper and 32 crew members were arrested after they were found fishing in Malaysian waters about 40 nautical miles off Pulau Pangkor last night.

Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) District 3 Lumut enforcement chief Captain Zulinda binti Ramly said the foreign boat, KM Puspasari, was located at 8.23pm.

Although the Indonesians had switched off all the vessel’s lights, she said MMEA vessel KM Gagah managed to locate its whereabouts using radar.

She said the foreigners, aged from 17 to 60, were from Tanjung Balai, Indonesia.
