Complaints on MyEG Services Bhd to be investigated

CYBERJAYA: The Home Ministry will investigate claims that MyEG Services Bhd (MyEG) or its officers have been appointing third-party agents to manage the application of Foreign Workers Permit Renewal (PLKS).

Deputy Home Minister Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed said the ministry had received many reports on the matter and would investigate its authenticity.

"This should not be happening as the conditions on MyEG was that they are not allowed to hire agents to manage the PLKS renewal application.

"The process of the renewal of the permit can complicate enforcement work carried out by the Immigration Department especially in determining whether the foreign workers had valid documents," he said.

Jazlan said the Ministry would investigate whether or not MyEG or its officers were involved as alleged and action would be taken against those found guilty.

He was speaking to reporters after an operation codenamed Ops Ikrar Bersepadu at Bukit Damar here earlier today.

The raid was a joint effort by the Immigration Department, National Registration Department and Rela members aimed at cracking down on illegal immigrants living at several illegal housing quarters in Bukit Damar.

Immigration Enforcement Director Datuk Jaafar Mohamed said the raiding team had nabbed a total of 290 illegal immigrants without valid travel documents in five illegal housing quarters during the raid conducted between 12 midnight to 3am today.

"Those arrested comprised of 105 Bangladeshis, 142 Indonesians including 26 women, 35 Myanmar including 13 women, 16 Viets including three women, three Nepalis, an Indian and a Pakistani.
