Kuala Lumpur: Despite being satisfied with the first round of questioning with 1Malaysia Development Berhad CEO and president Arul Kanda Kandasamy today, the Public Accounts Committee chairman wants more answers from the company's top man.
This was announced after a six and half hour closed door grilling by PAC members.
"The probe is not over yet. We are satisfied, but we want to have more details," Datuk Hasan Arifin said after the first meeting.
From the initial questioning, Hasan said so far 1MDB was found to have dealt with ‘reputable companies’.
"That is a positive sign," he said when met in Parliament.
Asked on how much the committee had managed to cover today, Hasan said: "Its hard to predict the percentage covered at this point,” he said.
“But from his statements, he gave us full cooperation and we are satisfied with his answers," Hasan said.
The bipartisan committee's probe into the company started last week when it called up former 1MDB CEO Datuk Shahrol Halmi.
Shahrol has since appeared twice before the committee on Nov 25 and Nov 30.
Today is Arul’s first appearance before the committee.
1MDB is under probe for racking up more than RM42 billion of debt.
PAC hopes to table its findings in Parliament by March, after the auditor-general presents a full audit report on the troubled state investor firm on December 17.
