LANGKAWI: About 200 passengers were stranded at the international airport here following the eleventh-hour cancellation of a Kuala Lumpur-bound Rayani Air flight this morning and a similar one this evening.
Rayani Air customer service officer Muhammad Faiz Ghazali said the two flights to Kuala Lumpur scheduled at 11.10am and 6.20pm were cancelled due to technical problem.
“The planes had landed at the airport here. We faced some technical problems which forced the cancellation of the two flights schedule at 11.10am and 6.20pm today.
“We are offering those affected refunds or tickets for them to use the ferry and bus services to Kuala Lumpur,” he said, adding that the company was still discussing the matter with those affected.
Among those stranded was Jaslia Samad, 25, whose flight to Kuala Lumpur was scheduled at 11.10am.
She said she was disappointed with the last-minute cancellation and how the company dealt with the situation.
“Twelve of my friends arrived at the airport without the slightest idea about the flight cancellation. One of us decided to check his email and found an email from the airline company, Rayani Air, informing us that we were required to go to the sales office to get further information on our flight.
“It was only at the office that we were told about the flight cancellation by an officer,” she said.
