GEORGE TOWN: Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng's bungalow was bought without a market survey, said its former owner Phang Li Koon.
In a statutory declaration (SD) dated today, Phang, a businesswoman, said she did not see a need to survey the market before selling the property to Lim in 2015.
"I did not survey the market when I decided to sell to CM (Lim) because I didn't think it was necessary.
"I already have CM (Lim) as a buyer and there was an understanding pertaining to the agreed sale price (RM2.8 million)," she said.
The SD was read out by State Welfare, Caring Society and Environment Committee chairman Phee Boon Poh, who is Phang's relative, in a press conference here.
Phang said she did not get any benefit from the state government by selling the house to Lim.
"It was my decision at what price I wanted to sell it to the CM (Lim).
"I stress that I was not pressured or forced or under undue influence by CM (Lim) or any party to sell the house to him at RM2.8 million. I sold it on my own free will on a 'willing buyer and willing seller' basis," she said.
Phee, meanwhile, said it was his duty to defend the reputation of Phang as her family member.
