RAWANG: A quarrel between two brothers ended with the younger sibling murdered in front of their mother in Bandar Country Homes, here, last night.
The 10pm incident at Jalan Desa 4/11 saw the victim, 26, stabbed on his torso before he died slowly in a pool of blood inside their double-storey terrace house.
Sources said the mother in her 70s, who was not well, tried to stop the fight that transpired in their living room, but could not do much.
A neighbour, who declined to be identified, said he first heard a commotion from inside the septuagenarian's house and went to check.
"My wife, our children and I were resting in front of our house when we heard noises from the victim's house.
"The men were quarrelling for about 15 minutes.
"One of them shouted in Tamil telling the other to shut up and that he would kill the other one," he told reporters when met at the scene.
The witness said he could not see clearly what was happening as the house's front gate was shut and locked.
The man in his 50s said he then heard the victim sound like he was gasping for air, before it stopped about five minutes later.
It is learnt that the 40-year-old suspect, who is also a lorry driver, had tried to flee the scene.
He, however, was apprehended by neighbours who had gathered in front of the house upon hearing the commotion.
A police spokesman said they recovered a knife from the scene, and that police have taken the elder brother into custody.
The victim's body was sent to Sungai Buloh Hospital for post-mortem.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
