KUALA LUMPUR: National gymnast Farah Ann Abdul Hadi entered the history books as the first Malaysian to win a medal in the World Challenge Cup after taking silver in Ljubljana, Slovenia yesterday.
Farah did well to notch a total score of 13.100 in the uneven bars discipline as Slovenian duo Ivana Kamnikar and Teja Belak bagged the gold and bronze on 13.150 and 12.900 respectively.
The 21-year-old said the medal was a timely boost as her mission to qualify for the Rio Olympics draws close.
"I am very happy and thankful for the support of my coach, teammates as well as my family and friends," said Farah.
"This is a good stepping stone for me (to qualify) for Rio and helps with my confidence level.
"I still have improvements that need to be made and I will be working hard on that."
Farah will head straight to the Olympic test event in Rio, which will also double as an Olympic qualifier, on April 16-18 from Slovenia. The competition will be the last chance for gymnasts to qualify for the Olympiad.
