Boboiboy beats Ola Bola for fourth spot in box office list after hitting RM16 million mark

KUALA LUMPUR: After 40 days of screening, Boboiboy The Movie is among the top four local films with the highest box office collection.

Boboiboy The Movie hit the RM16 million mark over the weekend with a record of 1.5 million audience. Created by Animonsta Studios and distributed by Primeworks Studios, the movie is currently screening in 60 cinemas nationwide.

The local animated feature film about the super kid from Pulau Rintis who battles aliens with his stylish gadgets, collected just RM2 million less of Astro Shaw’s Polis Evo released last year. Police Evo made RM18 million and currently reigns at the box office.

The second spot went to the 2014 family comedy-drama The Journey, also by Astro Shaw, with RM17.28 million, followed by Skop Productions’ thriller Munafik which raked in RM17 million so far.

The recent footie movie Ola Bola is currently at the fifth spot with RM15.85 million, and Skop’s 2011 action KL Gangster comes next with RM11.74 million.

At the seventh to ninth spots are Astro Shaw’s Ombak Rindu (2011) which collected RM10.9 million, Excellent Pictures’ Hantu Bonceng (2011) which collected RM8.53 million and MIG Productions’ Ngangkung (2010) which RM8.18 million.
