RM2.5 million boost in allowances for RTD enforcement officers

MUAR: Over 2,000 Road Transport Department enforcement officers nationwide will receive additional allowances from an RM2.5 million allocation this year.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke said the Finance Ministry has approved the additional allocation proposed by his ministry with implementation set to occur soon.

"This is crucial to ensure the smooth operation of RTD officers, who sometimes work without additional allowances, especially outside office hours.

"We ask them to sacrifice their time, and as employees, they deserve this additional allowance," he said after opening the new Muar RTD branch building.

The building was constructed after the old one burned down in 2009.

Loke said this project was classified as a "sick project" due to the eight years it took to complete.

"The construction project started in 2015 with a total cost of RM19 million but only became fully operational on Sept 24 last year due to several factors."
