KTM Komuter collides with ETS train near Batang Kali, three injured

KUALA LUMPUR: Three people were injured when a Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) Komuter train collided with an Electric Train Service (ETS) train near the Batang Kali Komuter station in Selangor today.

There were a total of 510 passengers on both trains when the incident occurred around 1pm.

The 13-coach Komuter train, from Butterworth, was heading to Kuala Lumpur while the ETS train with six coaches was en route from Kuala Lumpur to Ipoh.

It was learnt that the mishap occurred when one of the trains, which was supposed to stop instead went over a crossing.

This led to the train colliding into another train which was entering another crossover point.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations) Mohd Sani Harul said three coaches were damaged.

"We received a distress call at 1:48pm. Eight firemen were rushed to the scene from Kuala Kubu Bharu and Puchong,” he said.
