Expect 30 minute delays on KTM Komuter, Intercity and ETS services today

KUALA LUMPUR: All Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) train services has continued operations as usual as of 6am today following a collision involving two of its trains yesterday in Kuala Kubu Baru.

However, KTMB corporate communications manager Siti Badariah Wan Hanafi said all KTM Komuter, Intercity and Electric Train Service (ETS) were expected to experience a delay of more than 30 minutes as trains were only able to utilise one track.

She said repair works were still underway on the affected track.

For further information, she urged the public to contact the KTMB hotline at 03-22671200.

KTM Komuter services between Rawang and Tanjung Malim, and vice versa were cancelled after its Komuter train collided with an ETS train at Km322 at 1.45pm yesterday.

The Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations) Mohd Sani Harul said they received a distress call at 1.48pm. Eight firemen were deployed to the scene from Kuala Kubu Baru and Puchong.

There were 510 passengers on both trains; three were injured. They were later evacuated by bus.

The 13-coach Komuter train, from Butterworth, was heading to Johor, while the ETS train with six coaches was en route from Kuala Lumpur to Ipoh.

It was learnt that the collision occurred when one of the trains, which was supposed to stop, went over a crossing. This led to the train colliding with another train which was entering a crossover point.
