Kelantan lawyer is Malaysia's first Clever Girl

SHAH ALAM: Luck was certainly on Fatin Nuraisya Mohd Hanipha's side when she was crowned as Malaysia's first Clever Girl tonight in the finale of TV3's reality game show Clever Girl.

The 28-year-old lawyer from Kelantan was initially eliminated in the show's fifth episode, but she and fellow finalist Arina Mohd Fairin Lum from Selangor were brought back into the competition via a wildcard on the eighth episode.

Telecast live from Sri Pentas 2, Plaza Alam Sentral here, the finale saw Fatin beat three other finalists to take home the grand prize of RM100,000 and the title.

In tears after being named champion, Fatin said: "Thank you to my family, friends, mentor and my supporters for believing in me when others doubted my abilities."

The two other finalists were Mary Josephine Muhammad Houston from Pahang and Lam Wai Chuin (Jane) from Perak.

The reality search that aims to unearth Malaysia’s brightest and smartest girl, saw contestants being tested on their problem-solving skills as well as IQ.

The finale consisted of three rounds. Jane failed to collect enough points and was eliminated in the first round.

In the second round, Arina had the highest score which automatically placed her in the final round.

Mary and Fatin had to go through an IQ test where they had to complete a puzzle. Fatin came out tops to join Arina in the final round.

The two finalists were then asked 10 questions, of which Fatin managed to answer the most, leading her to win the competition.

Arina also took home a cash prize worth RM10,000 as the first runner-up.

The show, which began airing on March 13 for 10 weeks with 14 contestants, was open to Malaysian women aged between 18 and 30.

All questions presented on Clever Girl were prepared by Mensa Malaysia.

It was hosted by local singer, actor and TV host Alif Satar.
