PUTRAJAYA: Datuk Seri Abdul Wahid Omar's tenure as Minister in the Prime Minister's Department and as Dewan Negara member will end on June 4.
Announcing this today, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said Wahid had made it clear from the onset that he would serve only one term, since his appointment in 2013.
"I have accepted his decision to return to the corporate sector as what had been agreed upon in 2013," he said.
Wahid, however, will remain a member of the Economic Council, which the prime minister chairs every week.
Najib said he had informed the Cabinet today on the decision, and expressed his gratitude to Wahid for all that he had done during his stint in the government.
"I believe he will continue contributing to the country's developments," he said.
Wahid was appointed as Dewan Negara member on June 5, 2013. He was the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department in charge of the Economic Planning Unit.
