SUNGAI BESAR: Lembaga Tabung Haji (LTH) is hoping to gain an additional 10,000 spots for its Malaysian haj pilgrimage quota and is taking proactive measures to handle the matters related to it should the request be met.
Its chairman Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim said the request letter to increase the quota has been sent by the Prime Minister's Office to Saudi ruler King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud.
"The Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Najib Razak) is very close with LTH and he has been helping us to secure additional quota.
"Last year we obtained an additional 5,000 places. We ask the people to pray that the quota will be increased again to enable more Muslims to perform the Haj via Muhasasah system," he said.
At the moment, Azeez said LTH is preparing itself for the possibility of it an increased quota in terms of execution plans and arrangements with agents.
He was speaking to reporters after launching the TH Komuniti mobile services at Dataran Othmaniah, Sungai Limau here earlier.
The initiative which kicked off with four vans (two in Selangor, one in Sabah and one in Sarawak) is geared towards bringing convenience to people living in rural area or far from TH branch offices.
It would also allow depositors to enjoy comprehensive services such as updating their accounts and registering for haj or umrah.
