KULIM: As the saying goes, it’s all fun and games until someone loses an eye. Or in this case, until your finger gets jammed in a spanner.
A nine-year-old boy from Kulim found this out the hard way when he was fiddling around with his bicycle after ‘sahur’ early this morning.
While playing around with a spanner, his index finger somehow became stuck in the tool.
Despite him and his parents’ best efforts, they were unable to remove his finger from the device. At their wit’s end, the parents decided to drive the boy over to the Kulim Hi Tech Fire and Rescue Department to seek help.
After assessing the situation, the firemen decided to saw off the spanner with a grinder.
But before that, the boy was given a pair of safety goggles first.
"We managed to cut the spanner in three minutes," he told reporters today.
It’s probably safe to presume that the boy won’t be jamming his fingers into any tools anytime soon.
