KUALA LUMPUR: Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) are eyeing a plot of land in Valencia or Barcelona in Spain to set up a training camp that can be used for pre-season training-cum playing stint in the country.
According to JDT’s official Facebook posting (The Southern Tigers), a delegation from JDT would visit Spain today to identify a suitable location.
“The centre will also accommodate young players who are accepted by clubs in Spain for training or playing stint,” said the club.
JDT owner Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim was in Europe last December and had visited several clubs in Spain like Valencia, Real Madrid and Barcelona and later visited Paris St Germain in France.
The visit was aimed to expand JDT’s networking in Europe and to enhance ties with several leading clubs in Europe, especially Spain.
The Johor Football Association already has a development programme through JDT with Borussia Dortmund since last year to groom young talent. --Bernama
