KUALA LUMPUR: Yes, brand under YTL Communications Sdn Bhd, has officially launched its 4G LTE services today, which include Voice-over-LTE (VoLTE) capability for high-definition, crystal clear calls.
With that, the 4G brand has become the first mobile operator in the country to introduce Voice-over-LTE (VoLTE) calls.
Together with the high-speed Internet data plans, Yes also introduced their first affordable yet high-quality Android smartphone – Altitude, to the Malaysian market.
The all-new Yes 4G LTE plans and Altitude smartphone were launched by the Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak, alongside YTL Corporation Bhd's chairman Tan Sri Datuk Seri Dr Yeoh Tiong Lay.
Also present were YTL's managing director Tan Sri Datuk Dr Francis Yeoh Sock Ping, Communications executive directors Datuk Yeoh Seok Hong and Datuk Yeoh Soo Keng, as well as chief executive officer Wing K. Lee.
"We believe that our new 4G LTE network will dramatically change the landscape of mobile services throughout the country. Our all-IP, high capacity 4G LTE Internet service supports multi-activities such as downloading or streaming movies, making calls all at the same time," said Francis Yeoh.
"Over the past year, we have been working with the best of the best in the industry such as Samsung, Qualcomm, China Mobile, Google and Elitecore technologies to develop innovative, high quality and affordable LTE solutions and products, focusing on broadband coverage, speed and affordability," he added.
In his brief on the Yes 4G LTE network, Wing K Lee, the CEO of YTL Communications said that the reason it is the most advanced at the moment is that it is built on top of the existing Yes 4G Broadband network that already has nationwide reach in Malaysia. "We started the journey with 4G Mobile Broadband and are now excited to complete the journey with the launch of 4G LTE together with the country's first VoLTE service. We are proud to help Malaysia leapfrog to a high income economy through the provision of these new services," he said.
"We are also proud to launch the country's first 'Double Data' bucket price plan that allows all users access to both 4G LTE and 4G broadband networks with a single service plan. With our amazing plan at RM70 per month, customers will get 24GB of data (16GB of 4G LTE and 8GB of 4G Broadband) complete with a free Yes Altitude phone. There is simply no comparable offer from any other telco in Malaysia," he added.
With the 'Double Data' feature of Yes 4G plans, whether consumers prefer to have more 4G LTE data for smartphones or more 4G Broadband data for tablets or laptops, the new Yes LTE plans will cater to the full spectrum of user needs.
The Yes Altitude is a 4G VoLTE enabled smartphone aimed at providing seamless mobile LTE connectivity to users. The phone sports a 5-inch HD IPS on-cell display and supports VoLTE for High Definition voice and video calls that are up to three times better than calls made on 3G networks, and 6 times better than calls made on 2G networks.
The Altitude's dual-SIM functionality allows users the convenience and flexibility in managing their SIM cards for the best data and voice call rates in the market.
Available in three colours – gold, white and silver, the Yes Altitude smartphone retails at RM399 (inclusive of 6% GST). It is the lowest priced VoLTE phone in Malaysia as of now.
