Sultan Johor wins 'F1' number plate with RM836,660 bid

PUTRAJAYA: The Sultan of Johor Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar has won a bid to secure the highly sought after ‘F1’ vehicle number plate.

The ruler made a winning bid of RM836,660 for the plate number.

The bid was followed by the F2 registration plate which went forRM514, 800; F9 (RM404,800 )and F7 (RM396,000).

The Transport Ministry’s Vehicle Licensing Division announced the winning bids at 3pm today.

The Road Transport Department (RTD) had previously anticipated that the new vehicle registration number for Putrajaya, ‘F1’ could fetch a record amount, even up to RM1 million in bids.

Former RTD director-general Datuk Seri Ismail Ahmad had said they did not set any specific bidding amount for the plate number and it was open to anyone.

On May 19, Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Ab Aziz Kaprawi had announced that vehicles in the Federal Territory of Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur would use the new registration numbers starting with the alphabet 'F' and 'V', respectively.
