I REFER to the report “Support for new MACC chief”, (NST July 30).
I am happy that Datuk Dzulkifli Ahmad, who has the right credentials, had been appointed as the new Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner. The job requires strong leadership.
While the Anti-Corruption Advisory Board would have preferred an internal appointment for reasons of staff morale and service continuity, the decision to appoint an officer was outside our remit; it was within the competence of the chief secretary to the government.
But the board assures that the new chief will receive our complete support and cooperation. We are confident that Dzulkili will not find his MACC colleagues wanting in their professional support for him.
