KUANTAN: A businessman here became the first person in Pahang to land in trouble with the police for playing Pokemon Go while driving.
Pahang Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Mohd Noor Yusof Ali said the man was stopped by policemen while he was driving along Jalan Stadium at about 11am yesterday.
"The summon was issued for the offence of using his handphone while driving.
"Incidentally, he was playing with Pokemon Go when he was flagged down by the traffic police," he said.
Since it was made available in Malaysia yesterday, Pokemon Go-mania has swept the nation, with tens of thousands of users having downloaded the mobile game onto their phones.
Cases of accidents involving Pokemon Go players have been recorded, with some walking into traffic and injuring themselves while being preoccupied with their phone screens.
Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai had today reminded Malaysian drivers not to play the game while driving.
"It's good fun but remember, don't Pokemon Go and drive," the minister had tweeted.
