PUTRAJAYA: Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin today submitted the documents for the registration of his new political party, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu).
Muhyiddin, clad in a white shirt, arrived at the Registrar of Societies (RoS) headquarters at 3.10pm.
The former Umno deputy president said the party would be open for membership to Malays and Bumiputera, and would also be open to other Malaysians as associate members.
"Bersatu is inclusive, dynamic and progressive. We will fight for the rights of all.
"In line with Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s guarantee and assurance that the registration would be approved, I hope that its approval will happen as soon as possible," he told reporters here, today.
Muhyiddin was accompanied by former Wanita Umno Langkawi member Anina Saaduddin and former Bendang Baru Umno Youth chief Akhramsyah Sanusi.
Midway through his press conference, a group of Jaringan Melayu Malaysia members created a ruckus outside the RoS office. They had demanded to meet with Muhyiddin to speak on the possibility of holding a "Nothing To Hide 3.0" event.
Police however, brought the situation under control.
