SHAH ALAM: Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah wed Norashikin Abdul Rahman, at the Masjid Istana Diraja, Istana Alam Shah, Klang on Aug 31.
The reception, held on the morning of Malaysia's National Day, saw the couple tie the knot, officiated by Selangor Mufti Datuk Mohd Tamyes Abd Wahid.
The Istana Alam Shah, in a media statement issued today, said the ceremony was carried out in modest manner at the Sultan's request.
Present at the ceremony were Deputy Selangor Mufti Dr Anhar Opir, Imam Paduka Tuan, Mohd Rasid Mahful; former Deputy Selangor Mufti Datuk Abdul Majid Omar; Selangor Islamic Religious Council member Datuk Salehuddin Saidin, as well as the parents of the bride.
This is Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah's third marriage.
The Sultan has two daughters, Tengku Zerafina and Tengku Zatashah, and a son, the Raja Muda Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah.
It is understood that Norashikin, 45, is an RTM news presenter. She is a mother of two.
Kuala Lumpur-born Norashikin is the youngest of three siblings.
She was awarded News Presenter of the Year at the Anugerah Seri Angkasa in 2005.
