Selangor Sultan: Malay rulers must be united

SHAH ALAM: The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah says Malay rulers must be united and work as a team for the people.

"His Majesty said this is very important because the Malay rulers' role in safeguarding the wellbeing of the people now goes beyond religious issues and includes other current issues," said the Selangor Royal Office in a Facebook post.

On Tuesday, Sultan Sharafuddin granted the Regent of Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, an audience at the Selangor Palace.

In the meeting which lasted over an hour, Sultan Sharafuddin and Tunku Ismail discussed various issues.

Sultan Sharafuddin also reminded all members of royal families to be mindful of how their words and actions in public or in social media.

"His Majesty also said that sensitive issues involving the Malay rulers should not be discussed on social media.

"With regards to football, an understanding has been reached that there will be no more disputes and conflicts that could lead to enmity and violence."

The Selangor Royal Office also said Sultan Sharafuddin expressed gratitude that Tunku Ismail had requested an audience with him and that he was pleased with the outcome of the meeting.
