Sarawak welcomes foreign help to annotate state museum exhibits

KUCHING: Sarawak welcomes expertise from other countries to work together with the locals to annotate the collections of the state museum.

Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem said the weakness of the state museum is that there are many exhibits and collections but they lack annotations.

"This is mainly due to limited manpower and experts in the state, as to annotate these collections is not an easy job. It's a very complicated thing to do," he said.

Speaking at the launch of the "Urang Sarawak" exhibition at the Sarawak Museum here, Adenan said the young generation must never forget their origin, culture and heritage as well as the history of Sarawak.

"We live in a multiracial society, with so many ethnic communities in the state, thus it is important for us to understand the culture and spiritual beliefs of other races," he added.
