KOTA KINABALU: The Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) has seized around RM1 million from three witnesses who have been summoned to give their statements on the Sabah Water Department corruption scandal.
An MACC source said the three witnesses voluntarily returned the cash when their statements were recorded.
“No new arrests have been made to date. All those called in to give their statements have cooperated well with the MACC,” the source said.
This morning, magistrate Jessica Ombou Kakayun granted a remand extension of five days for the first person arrested over the probe, and seven days for the three others arrested.
MACC deputy chief commissioner (operations) Datuk Azam Baki when contacted confirmed the information, but declined to elaborate further.
