KK's Imago Mall set to terrify shoppers with new Reformatory attraction

KOTA KINABALU: Adrenaline junkies have the opportunity to uncover the fate of “prisoners” sent to “a secret rehabilitation facility” at a shopping mall here.

Set up at the Imago Mall and scheduled to run between Oct 14 and Nov 13, the Reformatory is a two-storey facility which aims to bring back childhood memories of being told spooky ghost stories.

“The Reformatory will afford visitors the opportunity to experience fear that is different from watching scary movies,” said Asian Pac Holdings Berhad executive director Raymond Yu during the soft launch of the month-long programme.

The experience will be based on a fictional story of inmates Jonah Trish, Sam Welding, Gina Joseph and Brenda Johnson who were sent to the facility for rehabilitation, although they had long protested their innocence.

The story goes that the prisoners never emerged from the facility and no one knows what happened to them.

Visitors will be equipped with only a torch light, and participants will have to find out whether the four inmates are still alive or dead within six minutes.

To enter, shoppers (in groups of four) must purchase at least RM100 worth of merchandise at any store on the same day in the shopping mall.

It is the second time that Imago Mall brings a “horror” experience to shoppers after a similar set-up of “The Infirmary” last year.

The mall will also organise a “trick or treat” programme for children aged 15 and below on Oct 31.

Yu said the mall expects 3,000 visitors, including tourists from Korea, China and Hong Kong, to take part in the thrilling adventure.
