Boy sent to clinic for leg injury, pronounced dead on arrival

MERSING: An 11-year-old disabled boy, rushed to a health clinic in Endau here for a leg injury, was pronounced dead upon arrival.

In the 4.30pm incident yesterday, Mohd Roshamnudin Abdullah was brought to the clinic by his parents after the boy’s mother found him lying on the toilet floor. She went to check on him after she realised he was in there for too long.

According to Johor Criminal Investigation Department chief Datuk Kamarul Zaman Mamat, the victim had gone to the toilet by himself.

“The victim’s mother noticed her son going in but only suspected something was amiss after noticing he was in there for too long,” he said.

Kamarul said the victim’s mother found her son lying on the floor with one of his legs pinned down by a large water container.

“The victim’s mother claimed her son was still conscious and alive when she picked him up and she quickly called her husband. They rushed him to the Endau health clinic,” he said.

Kamarul said the victim’s remains had been sent to the Sultan Ismail Hospital for a post mortem.

“Initial investigation also revealed that the health clinic’s medical assistant found scars all over the victim’s body, which resembled either scar marks from eczema or from cigarette burns,” he said.

It is also learnt that the police have the victim’s parents in custody for questioning and to facilitate the investigation.

“The case is still being investigated pending a complete post mortem report to determine the cause of death,” he said.
