KUALA LUMPUR: Individual tax relief of up to RM2,500 will be given for the purchase of printed newspapers, smartphones and tablets, Internet subscription and gymnasium membership fees, under the 2017 Budget.
The relief will be effective from the 2017 year of assessment.
Currently there are 21 categories of individual tax relief. In order to facilitate tax payers in claiming the existing tax relief, the purchase of reading materials, computers and sports equipment will be combined as the lifestyle tax relief.
