BEIJING, China: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak today travelled from Beijing to Tianjin via high speed train, a 138.6km journey that took only 30 minutes.
His delegation boarded the train at 9.25am from Beijing South Station.
The prime minister was briefed on board by China Railway officials. The high speed train arrived at Tianjin Station Tianjin Station at 9.55am sharp, where he was welcomed by Zhao Haishan, vice mayor of Tianjin Municipality.
The prime minister's motorcade then left for Tianjin Guest House, where Najib was welcomed and met with Li Hongzhong, party secretary of Tianjin, and Wang Dong Fong, acting mayor of Tianjin.
He is scheduled to witness the signing of an operation agreement for the integrated seawater desalination and salt making project between Xianda (Malaysia) and the Administrative Commission of Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area.
Tianjin is a metropolis in northern coastal China and one of the six national central cities of China.
Tianjin borders Hebei Province and Beijing Municipality, bounded to the east by the Bohai Gulf portion of the Yellow Sea. Part of the Bohai Economic Rim, it is the largest coastal city in northern China.
