IPOH: The number of flood evacuees in three districts in the state has increased to 287 people from 100 families as of 9am today.
The three districts are Larut Matang Selama (LMS), Manjung and Kuala Kangsar, which were hit by floods last night.
A spokesman for the State Flood Committee Secretary said an additional relief centre has been opened at Sekolah Kebangsaan Kampung Boyan in LMS.
"Thirteen victims from three families were placed in the centre," he said, adding that the number of evacuees at two other relief centres (which were opened at 7pm yesterday) remains at 100 people from 37 families.
The two relief centres are at Dewan Orang Ramai Simpang Halt and Dewan Orang Ramai Kampung Jelapang Jaya.
Among the affected areas in LMS are Kampung Jelapang Jaya, Mukim Assam Kumbang, Kampung Simpang Halt and Kampung Murni.
"In Manjung, 11 areas are affected, including Kampung Pulau Meranti, Kampung Paya Ara and Kampung Masjid Lama,” he said.
The spokesman added that Manjung also recorded an increase in the number of evacuees to 141 from 50 families, up from 89 residents from 27 families yesterday.
"They have been evacuated to Dewan Inderawati Beruas," he said.
In Kuala Kangsar, 33 victims from 10 families from Manong and Kampung Lempor Kampung Hilir were affected by the flood.
