IPOH: The flood situation in Perak has worsened this morning, with 1,682 people from 525 families across five districts relocated to 10 temporary evacuation centres (PPS).
This is an increase from 1,605 people from 503 families at 10pm last night.
State Disaster Management Committee Secretariat reported that as of 8am, the Sungai Siput was the most affected area, with 720 people from 255 families placed in three PPS locations.
Of the total, 334 people from 132 families are taking shelter at PPS Dewan Pandak Hamid and the Orang Asli One-Stop Center (OAOSC) in Bawong.
PPS SMK RLKT Lasah houses 199 people (69 families), and PPS SK Lasah houses 187 people (45 families).
The Muallim district has also been affected, with 529 people (157 families) relocated to two PPS: PPS SK Slim River, which houses 479 people (129 families), and PPS SK Kuala Slim, which accommodates 117 people (28 families).
PPS Dewan Kampung Batu 4, which was opened yesterday morning, has been officially closed as of 8am today.
In the Hulu Perak district, 224 people (68 families) have been moved to two centres, namely, PPS SK Pahit, which houses 164 people (45 families), and PPS SK Kerunai, which shelters 60 people (23 families).
In the Kerian district, 104 people (34 families) have been relocated to two PPS, namely, SK Parit Haji Aman in Bagan Serai, which accommodates 64 people (20 families), and PPS SK Changkat Lobak, housing 40 people (14 families).
In Hilir Perak, all 38 people (14 families) have moved to PPS Dewan Serbaguna Padang Tembak.
Meanwhile, the Perak Drainage and Irrigation Department reported that water levels at Sungai Perak near Kuala Kenderong in Hulu Perak and Sungai Perak near Kampung Gajah, Perak Tengah are at dangerous level, while Sungai Kinta near Tanjung Tualang is at the warning level.
