PUTRAJAYA: Ampang Umno division chief Datuk Ismail Kijo has accepted Ampang PKR Youth head Adam Rosly's dare to lodge a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) over the latter’s wealth.
Ismail urged MACC to probe Adam's background, claiming that it was a mystery as to how he could amass enough wealth to buy a bungalow and luxury cars.
“I have submitted the related evidence including pictures of the bungalow and luxury cars including an Audi, a Toyota Vellfire, a Mercedes-Benz and a BMW," he told reporters at the MACC headquarters today.
He disputed claims that Adam came from a wealthy family. Ismail also claimed he was told that the 28-year-old did not own any businesses, and had only worked for PKR Wanita chief Zuraida Kamaruddin for the past three years.
Ismail said he would also lodge a report with the Inland Revenue Board to look into Adam's case.
Adam issued the challenge in front of the Ampang police station to Ismail and Red Shirts leader Jamal Yunos, urging them to lodge a report with the police or MACC over his wealth.
He was quoted saying that he was ready to work with the authorities in their investigations.
Adam had today claimed that his bungalow, which netizens claimed closely resembled a ‘Disneyland castle’, was bought at a bank auction for RM1 million, and not RM7 million as claimed by certain quarters.
He had said that the house price was deemed cheap, given its location in Ampang.
Zuraida had yesterday clarified that Adam owned not only one bungalow, but several other houses.
She said Adam’s wealthy status was due to his father being a businessman.
