If Donald Trump can be US President, I can be PM, says Ibrahim Ali

KUALA LUMPUR: Perkasa president Datuk Ibrahim Ali quipped that he may have a chance to become prime minister, now that Donald Trump has won the US presidential election.

He said he was given the nickname, ‘Donald Trump of Malaysia’, by Deputy Home Minister Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed.

“Trump won and now, he is quiet. I thought he would congratulate me.”

“Don't fool around. We plan, but God decides," said Ibrahim when asked if becoming PM was his ambition.

He said based on his education qualifications, he too has a general degree just like Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

“I've been in and out of courts for almost 50 times and have seen the inside of dozens of lockups.

“Please pray. Malaysians will be happy with me,” he said.

Ibrahim also said he was keen on contesting in the upcoming general election.

“I definitely have the intention but I don't know how,” he said.

Ibrahim, no stranger to colourful quotes, theorised that he could be viewed as an ‘unattractive divorcee’ (janda).

He hinted that he had been “courted” by certain quarters, but when asked which one, declined to reveal names.

“I admit that there have been some quarters which have tried to woo me but I’m not interested in joining political parties.

“I want to strengthen Perkasa,” he said.
