KUALA LUMPUR: A couple who allegedly harassed a female Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) officer over a parking ticket dispute, has been sentenced to 14 days' jail by the Shah Alam magistrate's court today.
The sentence was meted out by magistrate P Sarulatha after Lor Ka Hoo, 35, and his wife Tan Sit Fun, 30, pleaded guilty to using criminal force to prevent 23-year-old Nurul Ain Isa from discharging her duty at Bukit Rahman Putra, in Sungai Buloh yesterday.
They were both charged under Section 353 of the Penal Code.
Sarulatha also ordered the married couple to pay a fine of RM3,000 each, in default seven days' jail.
She also allowed a stay of execution pending an appeal and the couple were granted bail at RM2,000 each.
Based to the charge sheet, the accused had used criminal force against Nurul Ain while she was on duty, which carries a maximum of two years jail, a fine, or both upon conviction.
It was reported that couple were detained at Jalan BRP 6/11 Bukit Rahman Putra about 10.24am on Thursday after causing a scene over a parking ticket issued by the officer at the area.
A two-minute video of the incident went viral on Facebook showing the couple blocking the officer's path between two cars at a parking lot.
They appeared unhappy after being slapped with the parking ticket. The female suspect was seen holding on to the officer’s uniform while the male suspect prevented her from leaving the area.
In the video, the officer was also heard asking her colleague for help.
