Police raid office of NGO purportedly allied with Bersih 2.0

PETALING JAYA: Police have raided the office of a non-government organisation (NGO), believed to be allied with Bersih 2.0, in Petaling Jaya here today.

The headquarters of women's group Persatuan Kesedaran Komuniti Selangor (Empower) was raided at about 1pm today.

A group of 10 policemen entered the premises, which was once shared with Bersih 2.0, and proceeded with the raid.

It is understood that Bersih 2.0 chairman Maria Chin Abdullah, who reportedly was just released from detention under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 (Sosma), was a former executive director at Empower.

As of 4.15pm, police have yet to leave the building.
