KUALA LUMPUR: Umno Youth vice-chief Khairul Azwan Harun should learn how to respect others, said MCA Youth Secretary General Datuk Leong Kim Soon.
Leong in a statement today, said that as a leader, Khairul Azwan must first make things clear before he issues any criticism.
“The Chinese community had rejected Barisan Nasional (BN) because of repeated slanderous remarks from the Umno leaders,” he said.
Leong said MCA has never been afraid of facing the DAP, and has always been open in facing the Opposition.
“Khairul Azwan is the one that who needs to walk out of his comfort zone to the grassroots, and listen to the voices of the rakyat.
“If he continues to make extremist remarks, the Opposition will be able to take advantage of the situation, and he will have to bear defeat should he lose in the coming election,” he added.
Leong said all component party members should uphold the team spirit to reach a consensus instead of accusing and insulting each other.
He said that during the Umno General Assembly every year, Umno leaders will make extremist remarks and hurt the Chinese community, which has led to a drop in support from the Chinese voters.
“When there is a loss of Chinese votes, Umno will ultimately put all the blame on MCA, and MCA become the scapegoat in the end. Is this their so-called BN spirit?
“Will Khairul Azwan’s attack on the MCA president help win the votes? If no, then he should be wary of creating any more trouble.”
