JOHOR BAHRU: Upset at being summoned by police over a variety of traffic offences, a woman scribbled the word 'babi' (pig) on her summons when asked to put down her signature.
The ugly incident took place at Jalan Tun Razak here last night, Harian Metro reported.
It is learnt that police had initially flagged down the Mercedes Benz sedan driven by the 53-year-old woman.
Johor Baru Selatan district police chief Assistant Commissioner Sulaiman Salleh said traffic policemen had approached her car as it was obstructing traffic and was parked on a double line.
"She also refused to cooperate with the policemen, which left them with no choice but to issue traffic summonses against her," he said.
When one of the policemen finished filling out the summonses, he asked her to our down her signature.
The woman instead wrote the word 'babi' in the signature column.
"We believe that she did so with the intent of insulting and demeaning our officers," said Sulaiman.
The officer chided the woman for doing so. In response, the woman yelled at the policeman and claimed that her name was indeed 'babi'.
The policemen, with the aid of an MPV patrol unit, brought her in for further investigation.
It is understood that she will be charged in court tomorrow under Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955.
